K in gold mining: Potassium cyanide (KCN) is used as a reagent for the extraction of gold and silver from ore.
K in oil production: Potassium formate is used as a liquid for drilling-in and rehabilitation of boreholes
K in metallurgy: Potassium fluoride (KF) enters into metallurgical fluxes. It is also used for introduction of fluorine into organic compounds.
K in the glass and soap industries: Potassium carbonate (К2CO3)
is used.
K in the photo industry: Potassium bromide (KBr) is used since it protects negatives and prints from haze.
K in the household: Potassium phosphates, particularly К4Р2О7 and К5Р3О10, are components of detergents.
K in the nuclear industry: Potassium tetrafluorbromate (KBrF4) is used to produce uranium hexafluoride during the purification of uranium from impurities of rare earth elements, and also to replace other oxyfluorides while refining and to prepare fluorides of metals such as molybdenum, tungsten, rhenium and others.
K in pyrotechnics and match production: Potassium chlorate is used (КClO3)
